AIG Insurance New Zealand has appointed Mary-Jane “MJ” Daly (pictured above) as chair of the board of directors. She succeeds Craig Stobo, who will retire after more than 10 years in the role.
Daly has extensive background in insurance, banking and finance, having held a variety of roles in New Zealand and the UK. She was most recently chair of the Earthquake Commission, a position she held since 2020, serving on the board since 2014. Daly is also an independent director of Fonterra Shareholders Fund, Kiwibank and Kiwi Property Group. Her previous governance roles include Auckland Transport, Cigna Life Insurance, Onepath Life and Airways Corporation. She also previously held senior executive positions at State Insurance, IAG, and Fonterra.
“MJ brings a wealth of experience that will benefit the business as we continue to target profitable growth with a modernised business model and focus on providing excellence in customer service,” said Toni Ferrier, AIG New Zealand CEO. “We also bid farewell to departing chair, Craig Stobo, who has supported the business through significant change over the past 10 years. We are grateful for his tenure and wish him well for the future.”
AIG New Zealand’s website now lists its board membership as composed of Daly, Ferrier, Tibor Nagy, and Peter Tynan.
