Abbott Insurance Brokers has officially acquired Brave Day General’s book, with 1,100 in-force polices now transferred to the nationwide brokerage.
The move expands Abbott’s footprint in Auckland, with its Avondale office now ready to service more than 460 former Brave Day General clients.
To manage transitioning clients, senior broker Georgina Bebova has been appointed to Abbott Auckland and will be supported by an administrative and in-house claims team.
Abbott CEO Mark Reid said negotiations with Brave Day general director Dean Young had been very positive, with both businesses focussed on the best outcome for clients.
Young “was committed to finding a fire and general broking partner that was geared up to deliver when the new legislation comes into play July 2020 and, crucially, that he could trust to look after Brave Day General’s valued clients,” Reid said. “As a fellow Steadfast broker with a relentless focus on client servicing, the fit just could not have been better.”
Affected business and personal fire and general clients will still be covered under the existing terms and conditions of their insurance policies, and there is nothing they need to do, Reid confirmed. Any active claims will also be managed by the Abbott team.
Brave Day will continue to provide life and health insurance advice from its North Shore premises.
