The Centre for Study of Insurance Operations (CSIO) has announced that Northbridge Insurance is its first member to receive the Application Programming Interface (API) Security Standards Certification.

A news release from the industry association congratulated Northbridge for its achievement, lauding the insurer for its “commitment to being an effective and efficient API partner.”

CSIO introduced its API security standards to provide insurers and broker management systems (BMS) vendors with a consistent authentication and authorization API model, ensuring that brokers can securely access insurers’ systems and their BMS.

Northbridge achieved API security standards certification by confirming alignment with the set standards and showcasing adept mitigation of all security concerns, mainly focusing on API endpoint security.

“This certification demonstrates that Northbridge Insurance is security-focused and committed to protecting clients’ information,” CSIO stated.

Northbridge CEO Silvy Wright emphasized the company’s dedication to innovation and best practices when it comes to securing clients’ information.

“Obtaining the API Security Standards Certification is one way Northbridge remains steadfast in supporting our broker partners with security protocols,” Wright said.

Other members are actively progressing toward securing their certification, according to CSIO. Both insurer and BMS vendor members can download the API Security Certification Document to apply.

CSIO recently announced the formation of a steering committee to facilitate the integration of its refined eDocs codes and descriptions across the industry. This committee includes representatives from different insurers, vendors, and brokers.

Northbridge Insurance was recognized as The Best Insurance Companies for Construction in Canada. Read the full report here.
