The INNOTECH API Security Working Group of the Centre for Study of Insurance Operations (CSIO) has made progress on its development of a central security model – one of the three proposed industry solutions drawn up by the advisory committee to standardize insurance Application Programming Interfaces (APIs).
The working group was formed last September – just a month after the CSIO’s board of directors approved three digital solutions. The group’s mandate is to create a central security model that can be adopted across the insurance industry.
The group met on November 26 through a virtual working session. Representatives from six insurers and the Insurance Brokers Association of Canada (IBAC) participated in the session. The group reviewed technical standards to be leveraged within the security model framework. Then after being presented with guidelines to include in an industry security standard, the group identified key components and requirements to consider when defining the options for a central security solution.
“I’m excited to collaborate with the working group to solution a centralized security model that can be adopted throughout our industry,” said Travelers Canada solutions architect Dennis Wong. “Building on the success of this session, I’m looking forward to working with my industry partners on bringing forward a central security model that will have immediate benefits for stakeholders and most importantly, the end consumer.”
