The Centre for Study of Insurance Operations’ (CSIO) has announced that its board of directors has approved three digital solutions proposed by the INNOTECH advisory committee and working groups.

CSIO’s board met with the INNOTECH committee and working group members on September 15, and the board was presented with three business cases for proposed solutions that were collaboratively researched and developed by INNOTECH members.

The solutions will improve claims and billing customer journeys, as well as standardize APIs. Specifically, the approved solutions are:

  • To improve billing and claims, INNOTECH has proposed leveraging CSIOnet and the eDoc standard; the solution will move to a proof of concept stage by insurer and vendor participants.
  • To standardize API, the INNOTECH working group will move to a proof of concept with an approved use case.

“Having critical processes digitized and automated within the claims, billing and underwriting journeys will make a significant, positive impact for brokers and the customer experience. Eliminating manual work allows for greater productivity and efficiency for brokers, requiring less time contacting insurer partners and more time focusing on the customer,” said CSIO president and CEO Catherine Smola.

Smola also commended the INNOTECH committee and working groups for their achievements in their first year – particularly over the last several challenging months. The president also noted that the association looks forward to the implementation phase.
