The Centre for Study of Insurance Operations (CSIO) has announced the addition of Brett Fawbert (pictured), Aviva Canada’s chief information officer, to its board of directors.
The announcement was made by CSIO board chair Michael Lin, who also serves as the chief information officer at Travelers Canada.
“Brett’s technical expertise, leadership, and commitment to delivering customer focused services and business transformation in the insurance industry are evident by his many accomplishments,” said Lin in an emailed statement. “His presence on the CSIO board of directors will be an asset in streamlining property and casualty insurance operations.”
Fawbert has over 26 years of experience within the business and technology sectors of the insurance industry. His career spans executive positions in Canada, the United Kingdom and Ireland.
In his role as chief information officer, Fawbert is responsible for strengthening and modernizing Aviva’s security, technology estate, change execution, and service improvement. Some of his notable achievements include leading the migration and adoption of Aviva’s cloud platform, as well as spearheading major IT transformation and service improvement programs.
Commenting on his new role within CSIO, Fawbert said he is eager to join the board and contribute to advancing the insurance industry’s digital transformation.
“I look forward to working with my fellow directors to optimize broker connectivity through technology and data standards,” he added.
Fawbert’s appointment comes after CSIO formed an eDocs implementation steering committee to facilitate the integration of its refined eDocs codes and descriptions across the industry. The committee includes representatives from different insurers, brokers and vendors.
