Aviva Canada, together with venture capital firm Highline Beta, is launching a new insurtech accelerator program aimed at developing innovative solutions to make safer roads.
The new “Safe x Connected Cities Accelerator” is a challenge-based platform designed to help scale start-ups with a proven ability to tackle road safety, mobility, and smart city challenges, a release said. The accelerator will offer coaching and programming to the participating start-ups, allowing them to connect to enterprise program partners to quickly test their products in-market and eventually scale their pilot partnerships into a commercial deal.
Over the course of six months, the accelerator program will seek input from start-ups, leading corporations, industry professionals, and global experts on ways to improve road safety, mobility, and connectivity in cities.
The first half of the period will see participants undergo Highline Beta’s acceleration programming, and will work closely with Aviva Canada to find opportunities for a commercial agreement. During the latter half, companies that enter into a commercial agreement would be eligible to scale their pilot initiatives and receive potential investment from Highline Beta, on top of additional support on raising later rounds of funding.
“Collaboration is the best approach to creating safer and more connected cities across Canada,” commented Highline Beta founding partner and CEO Marcus Daniels. “No one company or organization can solve today’s mobility challenges alone.”
Daniels also said that his firm is excited to work with Aviva Canada – one of the founding partners of Highline Beta – as the group continues to look for other innovative companies to team up with.
