Burns & Wilcox has added three new associates to its Toronto, Quebec, and Atlantic region offices.
The three appointments are David Harris, who has been named director of underwriting in Atlantic Canada; Shirley Gauthier as commercial insurance manager in Quebec; and Karim Jaroudi as environmental insurance product specialist in Toronto.
Harris brings over 25 years of personal and commercial industry experience to the newly created role of director of underwriting in Atlantic Canada; his responsibilities include overseeing operations of the Halifax, Nova Scotia and St. John’s, Newfoundland offices, forging and strengthening business relationships; and enhancing the company’s underwriting results. Harris will also work closely with the Burns & Wilcox senior leadership team on strategic planning and underwriting oversight.
He last worked for Angus-Miller Insurance as chief operating officer.
Jaroudi, meanwhile, has more than 10 years of environmental underwriting experience. In his new role as product specialist, his main focus will be on strategic business development. He will also serve as team leader, aiding junior associates with his environmental technical knowledge.
As commercial insurance manager, Gauthier will utilize her business development expertise and experience to bolster the company’s presence in Quebec. She will also work closely with the leadership team in this capacity.
Harris and Jaroudi will report to H.W. Kaufman Group corporate senior vice-president and Burns & Wilcox managing director Jodie Kaufman Davis. Gauthier will report to Burns & Wilcox director of property and casualty Tyson Peel.
“We are excited to have David, Shirley and Karim join the team, further deepening our capabilities to better serve our retail broker clients,” commented Kaufman Davis on the appointments, noting that the collective expertise and strong regional relationships of the three will help empower Burns & Wilcox’s presence on a national level.
