Aventum Group’s global specialty re/insurance broking business Consilium has announced the launch of its new Cargo Stock Throughput offering, appointing Jack Cooper (pictured) as senior partner.

Cooper will join Consilium soon, following his notice period at Alesco Risk Management Services, where he was the executive director. Before joining Alesco, Cooper was associate director and head of broking at Gallagher, and cargo broker at Lloyd & Partners Ltd.

According to Consilium, Cooper will bring over 15 years of technical brokering experience, a strong background in independent broking, and a deep understanding of the unique challenges faced in placing complex cargo risks.

In a statement about the launch, Consilium Co-CEO and managing partner James Baird said: “We’re once again broadening our range of expertise, as part of a continued desire to be inspirational, transforming markets that can benefit from a better way of doing things. Hot on the heels of our new marine offering, cargo is a natural next step for us and an opportunity to deliver a truly independent broking proposition.  The incredible support from carriers across both the Lloyd’s, company and MGA markets stands as [a] testament to the strength of this new offering.

“Jack is vital to realising our vision. He is outcome-driven, service-led, and entrepreneurial in his approach – he will fit in perfectly.”

Meanwhile, according to Consilium, its cargo stock throughput offering is backed by “unrivalled Lloyd’s and company market capacity” – with access to 50+ Syndicates and MGAs keen to support its new global offering.

“Consilium has a broad cargo appetite, covering general, niche, and complex stock throughput risks,” it stated. “Nimble by design, its approach combines global speciality reach and use of advanced technology, with a service-led approach from a true independent broker. Differentiated from the rest of the market, Consilium breaks down traditional silos, meaning that complex cargo risks straddling both property and marine can be placed quickly thanks to the highest level of specialist combined divisional expertise.”
