Millennials mixing life and work may be creating problems for the future, says one reader who made our Comment of the Week.
One quote from Marla Donovan, vice president of product development at Burns and Wilcox near the end of the article ‘What not to do in an insurance mentorship’ explains the work habits of Millennials, and how they have not only mastered today’s technology, but made it an integral part of their lives at home and at work.
“Work is almost becoming 18 hours a day,” said Donovan, “with life mixed in there. Millennials may in fact be the hardest-working generation ever.”
For Nick Kandiuk, the comment was quite chilling.
“That your waking hours are now all work ‘with life mixed in there,’ presents an ominous picture of all sorts of personal and societal problems for the future,” wrote Kandiuk. “I hope she's wrong on that point and that our millennials can avoid that technological trap. I find that comment quite chilling.”
What do you think? Are we always ‘at the office’ when we take our smart phones home and on vacation?
