An Ottawa-based company is using its expertise in the Canadian market to help an American insurer improve on its adjusting practices.

e-djuster Inc., is partnering with Insurance Solutions Group in the U.S. to help grow its property segment – drawing on more than a decade of experience from right here at home.

“Canada for us has been a brilliant incubator market, and we’ve made enormous strides in being able to demonstrate where insurers can further drive indemnity savings and cost reductions in the areas of adjuster labour and time,” says the President and CEO of e-djuster Inc., Andy Williams. “In the U.S., it is slightly different in our experience, and we’re finding for the most part there needs to be some shift to move that labour-intensive aspect of claims away from policy holders.

“We’re trying to bring what we’ve proven here in the Canadian market to the U.S. in the same very effective way,” Williams told Insurance Business.

What is driving the push to improve adjusting practices is a combination of technology and services, says Williams, “specialized services, that follow a standard methodology and best practice that have been refined over a number of years.”

And all of that is underpinned by technology, adds Williams, which is used to facilitate the entire process.

“Due to the much higher complexity and smaller premium base, the property segment has not enjoyed nearly the same degree of innovation and process improvement as has the auto side,” says Stephen Applebaum, managing partner of Insurance Solutions Group, “and that has been reflected in lower underwriting profits, customer satisfaction and retention and stubbornly protracted claim cycle times. Contents claims have been an area of particular challenge but this is now shifting as a result of partnerships with leading solution providers such as e-djuster.” (continued.)

“We are delighted to have the opportunity to work with Stephen and Insurance Solutions Group,” says Williams. “We feel that this relationship, combined with our unique approach to content claims, will be of great value and benefit to the U.S. market. Our reputation for fairness and proven success with carriers across all tiers, is unmatched in the industry today."

Williams brings 20 years of experience as an entrepreneur and executive operating in the property claims and contents sector. It is through the introduction of modernized concepts for the efficient, effective and friendly resolution of content’s claims to the Canadian property claims industry some 13 years ago, he says, that his company has found success.

Over the past eight years as President and CEO, Williams has established key strategic alliances over the past eight years, successfully acquiring The Claims Network and by expanding operations into the U.S. market.

Prior to founding e-djuster, Williams spent three years in software development with Supply and Service Canada and six years developing, managing and marketing solutions as VP of Claims with ICA Inc.

The ISG announcement combines with e-djuster’s previous launch of a Complex Claims Service Division, (CCSD) to manage the property industry's most challenging and extreme contents loss and damage claims.
