iA Financial Group has announced a donation of $200,000 to Food Banks Canada. The contribution will help food banks across the country provide assistance to individuals and families facing food insecurity.
Food Banks Canada, the national charity leading efforts to address hunger, supports more than 5,500 food banks and community organizations. It works to alleviate immediate food needs and to prevent future hunger.
The need for food bank services has been rising rapidly. In March 2024, more than two million visits were made to food banks across Canada, a 6% increase from the previous year. Additionally, nearly 700,000 of those visits were from children.
Denis Ricard, president and CEO of iA Financial Group, emphasized the company’s commitment to helping communities. “The purpose of iA Financial Group is for our clients to be confident and secure about their future. We also believe that the spirit of this purpose extends beyond our clients, to the communities in which we operate. We have a responsibility to support these communities and make a tangible difference,” he said. “That's why we’re proud to partner with Food Banks Canada to help those who need it most. Together, we can build a more caring and compassionate future.”
Kirstin Beardsley, CEO of Food Banks Canada, expressed gratitude for the donation, noting its critical importance as food banks face record levels of demand. “We are incredibly grateful to our longstanding partner, iA Financial Group, for their generous contribution of $200,000 this holiday season. With the highest levels of food bank usage on record, this donation is critically important and will support food banks across the country who are working tirelessly to achieve our shared vision of a Canada where no-one goes hungry,” Beardsley said.
iA Financial Group’s contribution is part of a broader philanthropic effort, with the company having donated a total of $10.4 million in 2024 to various organizations across Canada. This includes support for educational, social, community, environmental, and health initiatives. Additionally, iA’s annual United Way campaign raised over $2.8 million, thanks to the generosity of its employees.
