Westland Insurance has released its 2024 Community Impact Report, outlining its contributions to communities across Canada. This is the third report of its kind from the company, detailing its initiatives in areas such as diversity, equity, and inclusion, as well as environmental sustainability.

Westland’s community impact strategy in 2024 addressed several key areas, including mental health and wellness, climate action, diversity and inclusion, and housing and food security. The company supported these efforts through employee volunteering, sponsorships, and donations.

The report highlighted nearly $350,000 in financial contributions to local communities across Canada through donations and sponsorships. Employees participated in more than 330 community-based initiatives.

The company continued working with industry partners to fund The Nature Force, a climate resilience initiative and formed a new partnership with the Canadian Council for Diversity and Inclusion (CCDI) to support inclusivity efforts. Westland also launched initiatives focused on Reconciliation and meeting the needs of Indigenous clients and communities.

Jamie Lyons, president and CEO of Westland, reiterated the company’s focus on supporting Canadian communities.

“Whether it’s helping Canadian families protect what matters most, supporting local businesses, or giving back to the communities we call home, we’re dedicated to being there for Canada — today and for generations to come. Our strong local ties shape our identity, and our efforts to foster sustainable and inclusive communities will only increase,” Lyons said in the report.

Cari Watson, Westland’s senior vice president of Business Enablement and Client Engagement, highlighted the company’s approach.

“Community impact is at the heart of everything we do at Westland. From supporting grassroots initiatives to working toward climate resilience, we’re committed to making a real difference. I’m incredibly proud of the passion our employees bring to these efforts, and we look forward to continuing to strengthen the communities we serve,” Watson said.

Earlier this month, the company acquired Loewen Agencies to expand its presence and client base in Saskatchewan. In February, it purchased Youngs Insurance Brokers’ West Burlington operation to strengthen its presence in Ontario.
