Red River Mutual – with the support of sponsors and attendees – has managed to raise more than $25,000 for Manitoba burn survivors and their families through the company’s charity golf event.
The 31st Annual Red River Mutual Golf Tournament was held on June 12, 2019 at Pine Ridge Golf Course in Winnipeg. During the event, Red River Mutual president and CEO Brian Esau presented a $25,000 cheque to Firefighters’ Burn Fund of Manitoba chair Jim Abram.
“For many years now, our company has been a dedicated supporter of the Firefighters’ Burn Fund because we understand the importance of the work they do serving burn survivors and their families here in Manitoba,” Esau stated.
The CEO also shared that over the last 30 years, Red River Mutual has managed to collectively raise a total of over $125,000 for the Firefighters’ Burn Fund – largely through the proceeds of the annual golf event and its sponsors.
“We know that the contributions of our supporters are due, in no small part, to the valuable efforts of the Burn Fund and the dedicated men and women of our province’s fire service,” he added. “As a leading insurer on the prairies, we are committed to doing our small part by standing behind the Firefighters’ Burn Fund as they continue their important work.”
“To firefighters, there is no greater measure of courage than burn patients struggling to survive devastating injuries. These initiatives go a long way in enabling the Burn Fund to make a difference in the lives of burn survivors and their families,” Abram commented.
As a volunteer-run organization, the Firefighters’ Burn Fund relies solely on the support of private and corporate sponsors, as well as fundraising events.
A portion of the proceeds of the golf tournament will also go to the S.A.F.E. (Smoke Alarm For Every) Family Program – another initiative sponsored by Red River Mutual. Created in conjunction with the Firefighters’ Burn Fund of Manitoba, the Office of the Fire Commissioner, and the Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service, the program aims to install a smoke alarm in every Manitoban home.
