iA Financial Group is kicking off its third annual philanthropic contest – continuing a tradition it started to commemorate its 125 years in business.
The insurance and wealth management group is inviting charities working in the health, education or social services sectors to answer the question: “How would you use a donation of $125,000 to provide more respite for those in need?” Entries will be put to a vote, and the winners will receive a total of nearly $300,000 in donations from iA Financial.
Submissions for the contest will be accepted from September 16 to October 17. Then from October 17 to 31, a jury will select the 10 projects to be presented to the public. The public then will get to cast its vote for which among the charities deserves the top donation amount, from November 1 to 29. The winners will be announced December 12.
According to a release, the charity that receives the most votes will pick up $125,000 in donations, while the second and third place charities will each receive $50,000. The remaining seven will each receive $10,000.
“We are very proud to see this contest get people to stand together and mobilize every year,” said iA Financial Group president and CEO Denis Ricard in a statement. “I want to thank all organizations that work tirelessly for the wellbeing of Canadians and that take the time to submit a project.”
The first edition of the contest was held in celebration of iA Financial Group’s 125th anniversary in 2017. Ever since, the company has held an annual contest with a new theme each year.
