Following the conclusion of its annual golf fundraising event, Cowan Insurance Group announced that it has raised enough funds this year to surpass the amount collected during last year’s tournament.
The insurer, together with The Cowan Foundation, announced a record $175,000 raised at the 18th Annual Cowan Charity Classic golf tournament, held on June 17 at Glencairn Golf Club in Milton, Ontario.
This year’s tournament was held in support of Children’s Mental Health Ontario (CMHO).
“Giving back to the communities in which we live and work is at the core of who we are,” said Cowan Insurance Group president Heather McLachlin. “That’s why the choice to partner with CMHO with an end goal of helping to create an online resource for families with children dealing with mental health issues was a simple one.”
“We congratulate Cowan and thank all sponsors and participants who made this year’s tournament a resounding success. The Cowan Foundation is pleased to support this year’s beneficiary, CMHO,” added The Cowan Foundation executive director Mary D’Alton.
D’Alton also commented that Cowan has had a strong focus on supporting transformative programs for children and youth.
A release said that the funds raised from this year’s tournament will go toward the development of an online resource for CMHO. The system will make it easier for children, youth and families to find local mental health services and resources.
