Co-operators has announced the winners of the Co-operators Young Leaders Award.

Created in collaboration with Co-operatives and Mutuals Canada (CMC), the award recognizes and nurtures young innovators in the cooperative sector, celebrating Canadian changemakers aged 18 to 35.

Eleven recipients were chosen for their exemplary passion, innovation, and leadership, reflecting core cooperative values.

The 2024 Co-operators Young Leaders are:

  • Amanda Richard, Federated Co-operatives Limited
  • Bianca Rocha, Libro Credit Union
  • Caeli Martineau, Edgar Co-op
  • Jason Rivest, Coopsco Trois-Rivières

  • MacK Parman, Eadha Bakery
  • Paolo Mirriello, Coop de solidarité Pivot

The award recipients will engage in a 12-month leadership academy designed to hone their skills, boost their confidence, and deepen their understanding of cooperative principles. The academy features workshops, learning sessions, and networking events aimed at securing the future of the sector.

“We value the opportunity to invest in the future generation of cooperative leaders across Canada and celebrate the impact they have already made in their communities,” said Shawna Peddle, associate vice president of citizenship at Co-operators.

“Through our leadership academy, they will receive ongoing support and encouragement to continue to forge their own path in the cooperative and mutuals space.”

“It is an honour to be part of the growth of the Co-operators Young Leaders Award program as it continues to reach more and more young changemakers across the country each year,” said Daniel Brunette, senior director of external affairs for CMC. “I look forward to seeing what this group of extraordinary recipients do in the months and years ahead.”
