J.S. Held has acquired the Ontario-based forensic engineering firm Kodsi Forensic Engineering.
The acquisition supports the expansion of J.S. Held's accident reconstruction practice, as well as its strategic growth in Canada, the company said.
Kodsi specializes in accident reconstruction services. The team also boasts experience gained through over 20,000 investigations, more than 100 crash tests, dozens of peer-reviewed research publications, and over 200 court testimonies. The firm also developed its own application called Reconstructionator.
Following the acquisition, Kodsi’s team of professionals will be retained to advise in matters related to motor vehicle collisions – these include personal injury cases involving slips, trips, and falls; and property claims. Their expertise spans a broad range of engineering and scientific disciplines, which include civil, mechanical, biomechanical, kinesiology, human factors, physics, materials, and technology.
Kodsi’s clients will also have access to J.S. Held’s suite of specialized services once the transaction closes. These services include accident reconstruction; forensic architecture and engineering; property and infrastructure damage consulting; forensic accounting; global investigations; economic damages and valuation services; restructuring, turnaround, and receivership; construction advisory services; surety services; equipment consulting; intellectual property strategy, valuation, and dispute services; and environmental, health, and safety services.
"The Kodsi team is highly respected for their forensic engineering services, driver behavior research, crash testing experience, and refined accident reconstruction expertise,” said J.S. Held accident reconstruction practice lead Steve Fenton, P.E. "We are excited to welcome the experts from Kodsi Forensic Engineering to our team and further expand our accident reconstruction services across North America."
“Our team is excited to become part of J.S. Held and gain additional resources and expertise to better serve our clients,” added Kodsi Forensic Engineering president and principal engineer Sam Kodsi. "We look forward to our future collaboration as both of our firms share foundational values focused on quality, service, team culture, and enriching our industry through education and continuing research."
