Encore Group is a retail insurance brokerage firm based in Waterloo, Ontario, catering primarily to the manufacturing, construction and financial institutions industries. Encore Group’s Joe Dalton, Scott Heaman and their team will continue to operate in their current location under the direction of Dave Partington, head of Gallagher’s Canadian retail property and casualty brokerage operations.
J. Patrick Gallagher Jr., chairman and chief executive of Gallagher, said he is excited to welcome Encore Group’s team.
“Encore Group is a highly regarded firm whose expertise complements our existing retail brokerage capabilities in Canada,” he said.
The company has been making several acquisitions in the US. Last December, Gallagher acquired Murray Gardner Insurance Agency, a retail insurance agency serving commercial and personal lines clients in Southern California. It also bought Afina Insurance Advisors, a property/casualty insurance broker serving clients in greater Chicago.
Gallagher also purchased Durham & Bates Agencies, another property/casualty insurance broker in Portland, Oregon.
In 2019, Gallagher agreed to purchase Jardine Lloyd Thompson Group (JLT)’s global aerospace operations in Canada.
The company acquired all assets within JLT’s global aerospace retail and wholesale insurance broking division, including operations in the US, the UK, Canada, Australia, New Zealand and 10 other countries in Europe, Latin American and Asia.
