Acera Insurance Services Ltd., an independent, employee-controlled brokerage, has officially entered the Saskatchewan market through a strategic partnership with BMA Group.
Based in Saskatoon, BMA Group was established in 2012 and specializes in employee group benefits and group retirement savings advisory services. The partnership became effective on Dec. 1, 2024.
The partnership allows Acera’s specialty division, Acera Benefits, to serve businesses across Saskatchewan as part of a broader strategy to grow its footprint across Canada while maintaining a client-focused and community-oriented approach.
Tony Fairfield, president of group benefits at Acera Insurance, expressed enthusiasm for the collaboration. “We are pleased to welcome the BMA Group team to our organization as we continue to expand the reach of Acera Benefits,” he said. “Together, we look forward to carrying on our shared value of putting people first, as well as offering expanded solutions and options to businesses across the Prairies.”
Don Bristow, president of BMA Group, emphasized the value of this partnership. “As a multi-generational family business, we decided to join Acera Insurance because they uniquely offer a true partnership, versus an acquisition,” said Bristow.
“Our local team remains committed to supporting our clients and communities, and looks forward to expanding the resources, solutions and value we offer as part of the Acera Benefits team.”
BMA Group will gradually transition to operate under the Acera Benefits name. This deal is the ninth partnership Acera Insurance completed in 2024. Acera Insurance also recently opened a property and casualty branch in Saskatoon.
