Desjardins Insurance has expanded an existing service to provide comprehensive group insurance coverage to support individuals struggling to start or expand their families.

With the introduction of the Family Focus offering, Desjardins has extended coverage to include the latest fertility tests and treatments.

The plan also provides support for adoption, surrogacy, and a range of related expenses, offering comprehensive assistance for what can be a physically and emotionally challenging journey.

Additionally, plan members can access further support through Prenato, a clinic that offers preferred rates on various pregnancy-related services such as screening tests, online prenatal courses, personalized coaching, and genetic counseling.

Infertility is said to affect 10-17% of the Canadian population, Desjardins noted in its news release, citing data from the World Health Organization.

In the same release, Denis Dubois, executive vice president of Wealth Management and Life and Health Insurance of the Desjardins Group, spoke of the new offering and reiterated the company’s commitment to “building a more inclusive society where everyone belongs.”

“As part of this commitment, we’re proud to be offering our members and clients comprehensive and inclusive fertility coverage through our group insurance services,” said Dubois.

Martin Landry, CEO and co-founder of Prenato, also expressed his excitement about partnering with Desjardins.

“For the last eight years, Prenato has been guided by a desire to make a difference in the lives of perinatal clients,” he said.

“These individuals can now benefit from our team’s expertise through our various support packages and customized screening services.”
