The life insurance business of The Co-operators is now offering individual health and dental plans for retirees looking to save on costs.
The new “ContinYou GOLDEN” plans will be available to retiring group benefits plan members and their families who are looking to transfer to a comprehensive individual plan. The “flexible and affordable” plans will allow plan members to select adequate coverage for them and their families.
A release said that retiring plan members covered by group benefits plans are eligible to apply for “guaranteed lifelong individual health coverage” with The Co-operators within 60 days of the group coverage ending.
“As Canadians age, they are faced with increasing healthcare costs. Items such as prescription drugs, medical equipment, in-home nursing care, dental treatment as well as emergency travel medical costs can be challenging to manage on a fixed income,” said Co-operators Life Insurance Company vice-president of group benefits Conor Quinn. “That’s why we introduced a flexible solution that allows retirees to easily transition to an individual plan. ContinYou GOLDEN takes the worry out of planning for these costs after you retire.”
Co-operators’ ContinYou GOLDEN plans all include coverage for prescription drugs, accidental dental treatment, emergency travel medical treatment, in-home nursing care, medical items and prosthetic equipment, paramedical services, and hospital accommodation. Enhanced individual plans include coverage for vision care, dental services, as well as options to increase emergency travel medical coverage.
