The Alberta Motor Association Insurance Company (AMA Insurance) has partnered with EcoClaim to integrate environmental impact tracking into property claims.

AMA Insurance is adopting EcoClaim’s TRAX software to assist its supply chain partners and incorporating EcoClaim’s sustainability training and certification into its processes. This approach is designed to enhance industry practices while improving the tracking of emissions reductions.

The initiative aims to provide AMA Insurance’s teams and contractor network with tools to measure and reduce emissions linked to claims.

EcoClaim offers training and certification programs to help vendors implement sustainable practices. Through EcoClaim’s TRAX software, participants can access claim-level data on avoided emissions, allowing for more accurate tracking and reporting of environmental impact.

“By working with EcoClaim, we’re taking practical steps to reduce the environmental impact of each claim while supporting our members and contractor network with the tools they need to succeed,” said Jordan Andrew, claims manager at AMA Insurance.

EcoClaim chief executive officer Jodi Scarlett said that the company’s approach helps improve supply chain behaviours while delivering measurable reductions in emissions related to claims. “In 2024, EcoClaim vendors across Canada reported nearly one million kilograms of avoided emissions directly related to changes in recycling practices on property claims,” she said. “AMA’s participation in the program is sure to amplify this result significantly.”

AMA Insurance’s move aligns with broader industry efforts towards more sustainable claims processes. Earlier this month, Northbridge Financial Corporation, a subsidiary of Fairfax Financial, announced it would encourage restoration vendors to become EcoClaim Certified Contractors and use EcoClaim’s TRAX software.
