Quebecers aren’t converts to the idea of using tech for their insurance, at least not according to the latest survey conducted by the Centre facilitating research and innovation in organizations (CEFRIO), a research organization which specializes in IT and communications.
According to the survey, only 6.2% of adults submitted an online insurance application during the month leading up to the survey.
In contrast, the month immediately prior to the survey saw 62% of Quebec adults conducting at least one banking transaction over the Internet. (Admittedly, this activity, whether on- or off-line, is less common that banking.)
Similarly, only a small proportion of inhabitants of La Belle Province made financial investments and bought or sold stocks online during the month prior to responding to the survey, with the numbers coming in at 5.4% and 4.9% respectively.
The survey also pinpointed the fact that customers in the n the 25 to 44 demographic are much more likely to access their bank accounts using a mobile device at 53% compared to the average overall figure of 35.9% for all adults in the province. Those in the 25 to 44 age group are also more likely to conduct banking operations via tablets and smartphones, at 47%, than the Quebec adults overall, for which the figure was 32%.
