The centre will serve as a hub for cybersecurity expertise, focusing on research, training, and public education to strengthen Canada’s digital resilience.
Intact chief operating officer Patrick Barbeau (pictured) stated: “Building resilience is part of our purpose. As Canada’s largest property and casualty insurer, the increasing threats that cyber represents for families and businesses is top of mind for us.
“We know that to tackle this issue, we need a collaborative approach to gain a deeper understanding of emerging cybersecurity risks and to invest in meaningful solutions.”

The Intact Cybersecurity Hub will concentrate on advancing cybersecurity research, providing training, and sharing knowledge through a public platform. The partnership is expected to yield multiple benefits, such as developing new methods for detecting cyber threats, accelerating the transition from research to real-world applications, and improving overall cyber resilience.
Additionally, Intact’s involvement with the university will help cultivate the next generation of cybersecurity professionals.
