London-headquartered underwriting agency CFC, which launched its first Canadian office earlier this month, has snapped up Kelly McGuinness from Coalition to serve as development leader for cyber, tech, and professional liability.
McGuinness joins Canada chief executive Kate Della Mora, whose appointment less than two weeks ago marked CFC’s expansion via Toronto. While CFC has catered to Canadian brokers for over two decades, it has been doing so through its teams in the UK.
Collaborating closely with Della Mora in the new office, McGuinness will also work with CFC’s existing Canada-focused roster across the pond. Her role will enhance support for brokers in the cyber, tech, and professional liability business lines.
“CFC is the recognized pioneer of cyber insurance here in Canada and is the market leader for a reason – its product proposition is second to none, and it has led the way in the development of proactive cyber protection,” McGuinness asserted.
“But CFC is so much more than cyber, and I’m looking forward to working with Kate and my talented colleagues based in the UK as we continue to expand our Canadian business.”
Prior to her appointment, McGuinness spent three and a half years at Coalition where she most recently led production underwriting and business development. With over a decade of industry experience, she specializes in cyber and tech insurance.
Commenting on her first hire, Della Mora said: “I am thrilled to welcome Kelly to the new team we’re building here in Canada. Her technical knowledge, relationships, and professionalism are second to none, and she will be a huge asset to our business as we seek to deepen our partnerships with brokers across the country.
“I couldn’t ask for a better first appointment and look forward to working alongside Kelly as we continue the amazing growth trajectory of CFC in Canada.”
