Zurich North America has promoted Kelly Kinzer, current head of construction property, to the newly created position of head of construction casualty.
As head of construction casualty, Kinzer will lead its national construction casualty efforts by working closely with key brokers and agents to design and deliver third-party risk transfer solutions. She will continue to report to Zurich North America head of construction Karen Reutter.
The insurer said that the appointment “reflects a broader realignment” of its construction business, which has been reorganized into two segments - property and casualty. Zurich North America explained that this reorganization was done to simplify and enhance how it goes to market, as well as how it serves clients in the construction sector.
Kinzer rejoined Zurich in 2019, and has held diverse roles in construction risk management, including on the broker side. Before rejoining Zurich, Kinzer worked at Willis Towers Watson, where she served as North America head of construction broking. She also previously worked for companies including Marsh & McLennan and Allianz and initially joined Zurich for her first role out of college, staying for seven years.
“Over the past two decades, Kelly has established herself as a well-known and respected leader in the construction risk space,” commented Reutter. “In just the past two years at Zurich, Kelly has led high-impact efforts to build on the strength of our construction property portfolio. Her instincts, experience and outcomes make her the right leader to lay the foundation for this important new role as head of construction casualty.”
Zurich North America said that Kinzer’s successor as head of construction property will be appointed at a later date.
