Sedgwick has appointed two claims industry experts to serve as leaders for its new building consulting division in Canada.
Both Mark Canthal and Jason Thorburn have been tapped by Sedgwick to serve as senior consultants for the Canadian building consulting division – a new division formed just last month that is based in Ontario.
Canthal has six years of appraisal and building consulting and 26 years of restoration and construction experience. He has managed residential and commercial reconstruction projects through multiple stages of work, and has also provided litigation support in tort actions. Canthal is affiliated with the Canadian Institute of Quantity Surveyors (CIQS); the Canadian Personal Property Appraisers Group (CPPAG); the Institute of Inspection, Cleaning and Restoration Certification (IICRC); the Restoration Industry Association (RIA); and the Insurance Institute of Canada (IIC).
Meanwhile, Thorburn has more than 20 years of consulting, project management, and quality assurance expertise under his belt. He has spent most of his loss consulting career working in the claims industry, and has the RIA Certified Restorer and Registered Third Party Evaluator designations. He has also been recognized as an IICRC Master Fire and Smoke Restorer, and Commercial Drying Specialist. Thorburn is a member of the RIA Education Committee and on the board of directors of the Autism Support Network of British Columbia.
In their new roles as senior consultants, Canthal and Thorburn will be based in the Greater Vancouver area in British Columbia.
“With Jason and Mark at the helm, we are poised to continue supporting the needs of our clients with world-class service,” said Sedgwick Canada president Mike Alwyn on the appointments. “We are happy to have Jason and Mark on board and know they will ensure the success of Sedgwick’s building consulting practice in Canada.”
