Richard Grant may be young, but he’s already a trailblazer in the Canadian insurance industry.
The Vice President, Surety at
Trisura Guarantee Insurance Company was named an
Insurance Business “young gun” last year due to his many accomplishments, and since then, he has only continued on this upward path.
After receiving the prestigious appointment, Grant accepted several other accolades including a spot on the
Insurance Business “Hot List” and an honorary position on
Canadian Design and Construction’s “40 under 40” list.
While Grant didn’t always intend to pursue a career in insurance, he appreciates its multifaceted challenges, as well as the opportunity to help fellow Canadians, particularly where he works in Albertan.
“My priorities right now are getting out to meet clients and making sure we understand their needs,” Grant said. “The change in oil is a very big deal for the Alberta economy, and will definitely affect our client base. I’m making sure to reach out to them and address everything that they need.”
In addition, the new political leadership in the province is beginning to cause a commotion, but he is helping to assuage the apprehension.
“I’m sure our clients are a little afraid of turmoil since there’s a lot of change happening, and we’re making sure that we’re properly responding to help alleviate that,” he said.
He finds this very fulfilling, and hopes that other young Canadians will follow in his footsteps.
“I definitely recommend the insurance industry,” he said. “I think it’s an industry that definitely offers opportunity for young people. Although new technology is disrupting other professional industries, we will be able to adapt since dealing with change is what this industry is best at.”
