A group in the Montreal area appears to be unlawfully using the name or logo of member companies of La Capitale Insurance and Financial Group, according to an alert.
La Capitale is advising consumers to “exercise extreme caution.” According to the company, its logo and name are being fraudulently used to offer personal loans or investment opportunities.
“La Capitale wished to remind the public that its savings and investment products are distributed exclusively through representatives licensed by the
Autorité des marches financiers (AMF),” the company warned. La Capitale also warned that it doesn’t offer the public any form of financing other than mortgage loans or lines of credit.
“La Capitale recommends caution with regard to any other form of financing or investment that may be offered to you by anyone claiming to be a representative or partner of the financial group,” the company said.
Consumers can find a list of financing, savings and investment products actually offered by the company on its website,
www.lacapitale.com.
