Canadian brokers are to enjoy greater access to professional liability coverage with the opening in Toronto of a regional office for global re/insurance company XL Catlin.
The Toronto office is one of four regional offices to open as part of the expansion of the Connecticut-based insurers professional liability underwriting operations, the other offices being in New York, Chicago, Denver and Toronto.
Assistant VP, Christopher Lawrence, will be XL Catlin's man in Toronto, managing Catlin’s growing Canadian professional liability business, working in conjunction with other XL Catlin underwriters producing new business and cross-selling existing relationships.
“As we look to grow in the US and Canada,” said chief executive of XL Catlin's global professional business, Dan Kumpf in a company statement announcing the new offices, “We're enhancing our footprint outside of our centralized operation in Hartford by putting this expertise in closer proximity to our customers."
Joe Tocco, chief executive for the Americas, quoted in the same statement, said of the change: "We're confident that our brokers and clients will see a benefit from more regional access to this team's expertise and our significant portfolio of professional liability products.”
