Hugo Wegbrans is returning to Willis Towers Watson (WTW) early next year to take on the role of global head of broking and broking strategy.
Based in the Netherlands, Wegbrans led Dutch operations Willis B.V. as chief executive until 2009. He is making the switch from Aon, where he currently serves as global strategies leader for commercial risk solutions.
Wegbrans’ credentials include time spent as global chief broking officer. He was with Aon from 1986 to 2004, and again from 2009 till present. At WTW, he will be a key figure within the group’s risk & broking business segment.
“Hugo knows the global broking landscape better than most,” commented WTW risk & broking global head Adam Garrard. “He shares our passion for innovation, underpinned by great people and superior data and analytics.
“He’s a well-respected people leader who helps teams get to the heart of what clients need both now and in the future. We look forward to welcoming him to WTW in the new year.”
In July, WTW and Aon mutually agreed to terminate their agreement to merge, following regulatory hurdles in the US.
