WTW has announced the appointment of Karen Beldy Torborg to a dual position as head of strategic growth and portfolio management and head of the large accounts segment within corporate risk and broking (CRB) in North America.
Beldy Torborg brings more than 30 years of experience to the new role, primarily in M&A and private equity. In her most recent role as global engagement partner at Marsh, she provided strategic risk advice, developed portfolio insurance programs, and tailored solutions for clients in the alternative asset investment sector.
According to her LinkedIn, she also spent 26 years nurturing Marsh’s private equity and M&A services division, holding various leadership positions including global specialty head and North America practice leader. Her long career in the field is also complemented by a strong educational foundation, including an MBA from New York University’s Stern School of Business.
In her role as head of strategic growth and portfolio management with CRB NA, Beldy Torborg will be responsible for identifying and evaluating acquisition opportunities for the business, with a focus on contributing strategic, profitable growth to the overall CRB enterprise. Simultaneously, as head of the large accounts, she will closely collaborate with global client advocates and lead relationship managers, focusing on enhancing WTW’s presence across the Fortune 1000 landscape.
She will report to Mike Chang, head of CRB NA, WTW, and will be based in New York.
“Karen's dual role brings a wealth of unique industry insight, global experience and specialized expertise, with a proven track record,” Chang said. “Karen is poised to drive a robust and profitable M&A strategy for CRB NA, while providing specific clients with outstanding guidance. We are excited that she is joining the team and look forward to the invaluable perspective she will bring.”
Meanwhile, the latest report from the global broker highlighted significant challenges remaining for insurers after reporting their half-year 2023 results under IFRS 17 for the first time.
