Which insurance firms are among Canada’s ‘Top Growing Companies’?

The Globe and Mail’s Report on Business magazine has published its new ranking of the “Top Growing Companies” in Canada for 2024, with firms like Mitch Insurance and Billyard Insurance Group (BIG) making the cut.

Consisting of a total of 416 Canadian-run businesses, the list identified the following top 20 organizations:

  2. Volatus Aerospace
  3. Float
  4. Saturn Oil & Gas
  5. Henson Shaving
  6. 1CM
  7. Cairo Development
  8. Valeura Energy
  9. Ascension Automation Solutions
  10. Quill
  11. The Sales Factory
  12. UniUni
  13. Cedar Planters
  14. Novisto
  15. Goodlawyer
  16. Cover All Program
  17. Monologix
  18. SWTCH Energy
  19. Irwin
  20. TryCycle Data Systems

Listed companies related to the insurance industry include Cover All Program, which specializes in protection products, finance/insurance marketing, and assistance for dealerships; and BIG, an expert in family and business insurance brokerage services.

Insurance and financial services brokerage KASE Insurance, property insurance software provider Encircle, independent damage insurance broker OVC Assurance, and full-service insurance brokerage Mitch Insurance were also recognized.

Adam Mitchell, chief executive at Mitch Insurance, commented: “It’s incredible to be named one of Canada’s Top Growing Companies for the fourth consecutive year.

“This recognition reinforces our belief that innovation and growth go hand in hand. It’s a reflection of our team’s hard work, creativity, and commitment to doing things differently and delivering real value to our clients. We’re proud of how far we’ve come, and there’s still lots that we want to accomplish.”

The Ontario-based firm embarked on a multi-year transformation in 2021, scaling its operations while continuing to modernize its capabilities. It landed on the 360th spot.

BIG CEO Stephen Billyard, whose camp placed 225th, said: “We’re incredibly proud to be recognized once again as one of Canada’s Top Growing Companies.

“This achievement reflects the dedication of our entire team, our relentless focus on customer service, and our commitment to leading the digital revolution in insurance. We are excited to continue down this journey and push the boundaries of innovation to better serve our clients and partners across Canada.”

Launched in 2019, the ranking features private and public Canadian businesses on a three-year revenue growth with at least $2 million in annual sales in its most recent fiscal year.

Andrew Saunders, chief executive of The Globe and Mail, said: “The Globe and Mail congratulates this year’s Canada’s Top Growing Companies winners for achieving exceptional growth and resilience in facing business challenges.
