Westland Insurance Group announced it will donate cash to food banks across three Canadian provinces.
The independent insurance broker will contribute a total of $150,000 to support food banks in British Columbia, Alberta, and Saskatchewan. These food banks responded quickly to increased demand resulting from the COVID-19 pandemic, and Westland decided to help those food banks active in the communities that the insurance firm serves.
A release revealed that Westland will split its $150,000 contribution to help 43 food banks in BC, 11 in Alberta, and 32 in Saskatchewan.
“I'd like to commend the work of all community sector employees and volunteers who are working on the front lines to protect vulnerable citizens and help meet their basic needs. We are honoured to have the opportunity to provide support to these essential organizations,” said Westland Insurance Group CEO Jason Wubs.
Wubs added that for many years, Westland has been supporting organizations that “play a key role in Canada's social and economic development.” The chief executive also said that his firm will continue to do all that it can to support those working on the front lines.
