Westland Insurance Group’s M&A streak continues unabated, as the P&C broker announced the closure of its acquisition of AGI Insurance.

Based in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, AGI Insurance is a family-owned insurance agency founded in 1987. The firm’s professional insurance advisors are experts in the residential, auto, travel, farm, and commercial insurance lines.

Following the acquisition, Westland will gain more 12 employees, and the broker will have over 160 locations in British Columbia, Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba, Ontario, Quebec, and Nova Scotia.

The broker began the year by making one of its largest acquisitions ever – the purchase of Storm Insurance Group and its related brands: retail brokerages A.P. Reid, Sheppard, and Axxium, group brokerage MyGroup, MGA Agile Underwriting Solutions, and the digital insurance platform ZipSure.ca. Not only did the purchase grant Westland a whole host of brands, but it also helped the broker gain footholds in areas where it previously did not – in particular, Atlantic Canada and Quebec.

Last month, Westland Insurance also purchased the insurance firm Folgizan Insurance in Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan. Like AGI Insurance, Folgizan Insurance is a long-time insurance provider in its community, having served customers since 1976.
