Westland Insurance has acquired Loewen Agencies Ltd., effective March 1, 2025.
The acquisition expands Westland’s presence and client base in Saskatchewan, adding Loewen Agencies’ operations in Radville, Ceylon and Minton.
Loewen Agencies has provided property, vehicle, business and farm insurance since 1947. The brokerage has established long-standing relationships in the communities it serves.
Following the acquisition, Loewen Agencies will integrate into Westland’s operations. Clients will continue to receive existing services while gaining access to a wider range of insurance products and resources.
“I’m extremely pleased to welcome Loewen Agencies to the Westland team,” said Jamie Lyons, Westland’s president and CEO. “This is an exciting step in our growth journey. Supporting rural communities across Canada with their insurance needs is an important part of our business model at Westland. We look forward to welcoming their talented team and to continue providing outstanding service in these new communities that they’ve served for decades.”
Westland continues to expand its business in Canada through organic growth and acquisitions. In February, it announced its acquisition of Youngs Insurance Brokers’ West Burlington operation.
Youngs – Burlington West is a property and casualty brokerage that has served the Greater Toronto area for more than 20 years. With the deal, Westland strengthens its presence in Ontario.
In November, Westland expanded its presence in Ontario by acquiring MSP Insurance Corp. The acquisition was the company’s third partnership in the province last year.
This followed the acquisition of F.A. Smith Insurance Service in Alberta, which allowed the group to better serve its clients in Fort Saskatchewan, Lamont and Smoky Lake.
Westland also acquired Excel Insurance Lloydminster and M. Butler Insurance, marking the company’s entrance into the Niagara Falls, Ontario, area.
