Are you ready to step into the spotlight and celebrate your achievements in the insurance industry?

Nominations are now open for the ninth-annual Insurance Business Canada Awards (IBCAs).

Register today and nominate yourself or a deserving colleague before July 14 for one of our coveted awards, including:

  • Best Insurtech Firm
  • Outstanding Customer Experience Award
  • CEO of the Year
  • Business Development Manager of the Year
  • Underwriter of the Year

Winning an IBC award in front of industry peers is a career-defining moment for recipients, leaving a lasting impact and serving as a testament to their hard work and dedication to being at the top of their field.

Sharing what motivates her to excel as an underwriter, Stacee McCulloch, senior underwriter at SGI Canada and 2023 IBCA Underwriter of the Year winner, reflected: “For me, it’s the challenge of balancing the needs and business decisions of SGI CANADA with the needs of our broker partners and our customers. Underwriting is more than reviewing, evaluating, and accepting risks. It is about the relationships built on a foundation of trust, collaboration, communication, and learning.

“It is supporting a culture that encourages the acceptance of good risks and promoting thinking holistically about each file. Also, the coaching and mentoring of junior staff who are just starting their underwriting career encourages me to put my best foot forward and to help in the same way previous senior underwriters helped me.”

Speaking on the professional development opportunities that have significantly shaped her career and contributed to her recognition at the IBCAs, McCulloch stated: “I have participated in seminars provided by our provincial Insurance Institute as well as training sessions within SGI CANADA. I also hold my FCIP designation from the Insurance Institute of Canada.

“I think the most beneficial opportunity that I have been given is working with my underwriting and claims colleagues and our broker partners. By working with so many people with varying degrees of experience and approaches, I’ve been able to strengthen my skill set and position as a senior underwriter.”

The Insurance Business Canada Awards process starts with nominations open to all professionals and organizations in the insurance industry. Thorough research supplements nominations, and excellence awardees are selected in each category. A detailed submission is then invited from these awardees, which undergoes assessment by an independent judging panel.

Finalists will be announced in IBC magazine and online in September. Winners will be revealed live at the Liberty Grand during a black-tie awards ceremony on Nov. 14.

Don't miss out on this opportunity to shine in the spotlight of the insurance industry. Nominate today and seize your chance at insurance stardom.
