The Travel Health Insurance Association of Canada (THiA) has elected a new president and vice president.
Will McAleer, of WTP Assist, has been elected as the new president of THiA, and Brad Dance, of
TuGo, has been elected vice president – both have been with the Association for over 15 years and have a wealth of experience in the Canadian travel insurance industry.
THiA said the pair are excited to join the existing board that consists of outgoing president Alex Bittner, of
Manulife, who served for two-years following a prior two-year stint as vice president, treasurer Lambert Boenders, of Nordic, and secretary Richard Ollier, of
Allianz Global Assistance.
At his acceptance speech at THiA’s Annual General Meeting, McAleer said:
“It is a great honor to be president of THiA. As the leading voice of the travel insurance industry in Canada, we are working on some great initiatives including online certified courses for distributors and a Bill of Rights for consumers.”
He went on to say: “We are also working closely with the Canadian Council of Insurance Regulators (CCIR) to increase consumer confidence in travel insurance. It is our mandate to ensure Canadians understand the importance of travel insurance to keep them protected when they are away from home; and we promote three simple messages.
“Know your health, know your trip and know your policy.”
