The efforts by one Peterborough broker in conjunction with two businessmen to raise money for that city’s food bank drew praise from those in the insurance industry.
Peter Blodgett, the president of Darling Insurance and Realty, is one of the ‘Three Loonies’ who every November kick off a fund-raising campaign in Peterborough, Ont., having raised a million dollars over the years to help the hungry.
It is the dedication and impressive totals for a city of only 70,000 that garnered praise from people like Lesa Winsor.
“How impressive are those numbers and to relate those numbers to the needy of our communities warms my heart,” Winsor told Insurance Business. “Thank you for helping others. We need to surround ourselves with more people like that! Merry Christmas!”
Ken MacCoy also shared his appreciation for the efforts of Blodgett, and his fellow Peterborough businessmen Robb Bennett and Bob McGillen.
“Congratulations to Three Loonies with three large hearts,” wrote MacCoy. “That is absolutely awesome!”
