It’s once again time to reveal the world’s top 100 brands, courtesy of the Interbrand Best Global Brands Ranking.
This year, the list was dominated by tech giants – Apple took the number one spot, with Amazon second, Microsoft third and Google and Samsung completing the top five, respectively. However, how did insurance compare?
For the second year in a row, Allianz came out as the top insurance brand according to the ranking, moving to 39th place on the list.
“We are immensely proud to be the number one insurance brand, and to have secured our place on the Top 40 best global brands list,” said Christian Deuringer, head of brand & partnerships at Allianz SE. “In just 10 years, Allianz has moved from 67th place on the list with a value of US$4.9 billion in 2010, to 39th place with a value of almost US$13 billion in 2020. While half the brands in the Top 100 failed to grow this year, Allianz’s brand valuation increased by 7% despite the crisis, taking it to US$12.935 billion.
“We have set ourselves a goal to become a Top 25 brand by 2025.”
So what about the rest of the insurance sector? AXA was the only other insurer on the list, taking position 48. Its brand valuation increased by 3% over the year, though its ranking fell from position 46.
