The Co-operators and CUMIS are now providing its business, home, and farm property policyholders on-demand access to a legal assistance helpline.
The insurance companies have partnered with ARAG Legal Solutions, which will administer the legal assistance advisory service. According to The Co-operators, the service will provide guidance on a range of legal topics, such as understanding legal rights under employment or family law, contract dispute resolution options, and so on.
“As a future-focused organization, we are committed to proactively identifying emerging risks to our clients and offering innovative solutions to help them navigate through them,” said Co-operators associate vice president for national product and portfolio Tara Laidman. “Those who are most vulnerable in communities may not always have easy, reliable access to supports; by partnering with ARAG to administer this legal assistance helpline, Co-operators is strengthening its commitment to community resiliency and meeting unmet needs.”
Laidman also mentioned that The Co-operators will continue to engage in other strategic partnerships that offer its clients advice that is suited to their individual needs.
The Co-operators’ new partnership with ARAG Group comes after the latter recently consolidated its Canadian subsidiary – ARAG Services Corporation – into the ARAG Legal Solutions business. The merger of the two business units was driven by ARAG’s acquisition of rival legal expense insurer DAS Canadian in March 2021.
