Rick McCombie, an executive vice-president and chief client officer with The Co-operators, has announced his retirement.

A release from the company revealed that McCombie’s retirement is effective at the end of the year, 2018.

McCombie first joined The Co-operators in 1976 (then operating as Co-operators General), where he spent a good portion of his career “leading exceptional client engagement, claims, distribution and service strategies across The Co-operators group of companies.” He has helped the company attain record-breaking client growth, high net promoter scores, and a number of JD Power client satisfaction awards.

“Under Rick’s guidance and pursuit to deliver a superior client experience, along with his tenacity and commitment to always place our clients in the centre of our decision making and planning, The Co-operators has thrived,” The Co-operators president and CEO Rob Wesseling said in a statement.

“He’s a true champion of our company values, community involvement and people, and is an active member in the community. Rick’s contributions and true co-operative spirit will be felt across the industry and within our organization for many years to come,” Wesseling added.

McCombie’s other career highlights include maintaining 10 years of profitable growth in the Southwestern Ontario Region, which was under his leadership during the period. He also led the Co-op Auto Coalition in the early 1990s.
