The Co-operators has acquired Gatineau, Quebec-based Robert Poirier & Associés, Courtier d’assurance (Assurance Robert Poirier).

Assurance Robert Poirier’s portfolio includes personal and commercial insurance policies. Following the transaction, any existing insurance coverage a client has with Assurance Robert Poirier will remain in effect for the current term of their policies.

“The Co-operators has seen steady growth in Quebec over the past several years, and acquiring this book of business is a prime example of our commitment to expanding our distribution system in the province,” The Co-operators president and CEO Rob Wesseling said in a statement. “We look forward to helping our new clients get the insurance and investment products they need to achieve financial security, and ultimately, peace of mind.”

“Clients will enjoy the exemplary service of a leading national insurance co-operative and have access to a full suite of insurance products including home, auto, life, travel and commercial,” a company release claimed.

Last month, The Co-operators launched a new on-demand insurance product for homesharing hosts under its digital brand, duuo. The product was developed using a cloud-based platform created by Slice Labs – an insurtech The Co-operators had recently led an investment round for.
