TD Bank Group has appointed Jacqueline Sanjuas (pictured) as global head of financial crime risk management, in addition to her role as US Bank Secrecy Act (BSA) officer.
She succeeds Herb Mazariegos, senior vice president of financial crime risk management, who will be departing the company. TD confirmed that Mazariegos will assist in ensuring a smooth leadership transition.
Sanjuas joined TD in January 2024, bringing more than 20 years of experience in compliance and risk management. Prior to joining the company, she served as head of US financial crimes, BSA, and chief compliance officer at a major US bank.
Over the past year, Sanjuas has led significant changes and enhancements to TD’s US anti-money laundering program.
Sanjuas will report jointly to the group head and chief risk officer of TD Bank Group and the US chief risk officer.
Meanwhile, Stephen Joyce, vice president of financial crimes risk management, transformation delivery and enablement, will assume the role of interim head of financial crime risk management for TD Canadian and international (non-US) operations. Joyce will report to Sanjuas.
The leadership changes are effective immediately.
In 2023, the company appointed Tim Wiggan as group head of wealth management and insurance. Wiggan has been with TD for more than 25 years. Prior to his appointment to his new role, he was vice chair of TD Securities and co-head of global investment banking.
In other news, TD has partnered with Google Cloud, adding services from the latter to its portfolio of offerings, which will support its banking experience offerings. The two companies will also work to streamline application development and deployment.
