Sedgwick, a global provider of claims management, loss adjusting, and technology-enabled solutions, has appointed Stewart Kirkpatrick as executive general adjuster in its major complex loss division in Canada.

Kirkpatrick brings over 25 years of experience in the claims industry, with a background spanning multiple service lines, including commercial property, contractor’s liability, cash-in-transit, and appraisal services. His career has taken him across various industries, including construction, energy, finance, agriculture, and media.

Notably, he has led catastrophe (CAT) deployments in regions including New Zealand, Australia, the Caribbean, and Mexico, handling claims related to equipment failures, fraud, sabotage, and environmental incidents in locations such as Panama, Colombia, and Trinidad & Tobago.

“I look forward to continuing to drive results and client satisfaction on a wide variety of claims for Sedgwick’s talented team in Canada,” said Kirkpatrick. “My history in international markets solving intricate problems has provided me with skills I look forward to leveraging in my new role.”

Lee Powell, vice president of major and complex loss at Sedgwick Canada, emphasized Kirkpatrick’s extensive international expertise.

“With his experience in managing complex claims across diverse industries, Stewart will enhance our ability to deliver innovative solutions and strengthen our client relationships,” Powell said.

The appointment is part of a series of recent leadership changes at Sedgwick aimed at bolstering the company’s global operations and client services.

Last February, Sedgwick appointed Kumar Siva as chief operating officer in Canada. He previously served as senior vice president for third-party administration services and desktop solutions.

In 2024, Nicole Ostrom joined the company’s Canadian operations as executive general adjuster in the major and complex loss division. She has more than 15 years of experience in claims management. Meanwhile, the company also hired Emily Fink from Liberty Mutual to become its chief marketing officer.

In December 2023, Sedgwick named Leah Cooper as its first chief digital officer, where she spearheaded the company’s initiatives in technology research and development as well as launch collaborations across various business lines.
