RSA Canada has been recognized as one of Canada’s Top 100 Employers for the year 2021 – marking the insurer’s second consecutive year to win the distinction.
The Canada’s Top 100 Employers contest, held by Mediacorp Canada, acknowledges the efforts by employers to implement “exceptional human resources programs and forward-thinking workplace policies” that improve their lives of their employees, a release said. Each company recognized for the award scored highly in eight different criteria – physical workplace; work atmosphere and social; health, financial & family benefits; vacation and time off; employee communications; performance management; training and skills development; and community involvement.
This year’s awards also honour workplaces that have not only supported their own employees, but also the local community they are based in during the pandemic.
“This achievement is a testament to our ongoing commitment to be a best-in-class business for employees, customers, and shareholders,” said RSA Canada president and CEO Martin Thompson. “I’m extremely proud of our people, the efforts they make every day to advancing our industry, and to their unwavering commitment to our customers, particularly throughout the ongoing pandemic.”
RSA Canada explained in a release that thanks to investments in technology, the creation of digital resources, and transparent communication, it has supported its employees during the pandemic. The company has also provided approximately $75 million in financial relief to both personal and commercial insurance customers, and has given a $100,000 donation to Food Banks Canada to support vulnerable Canadians in this difficult time.
“We’ve worked very hard to create a culture where people from a variety of different backgrounds can grow professionally and personally,” said RSA Canada senior vice president and chief human resources officer Anne Berend. “Thanks to our amazing team, we are helping to improve the lives of our customers, and each other.”
