RSA Insurance Group Plc has named a new chair for its group investment committee.
Sonia Baxendale, who joined as a non-executive director (NED) on March 01, has now been tapped to succeed Joseph Streppel who is retiring from the RSA board effective May 09. The incoming investment committee chair is also currently a NED at Laurentian Bank of Canada and Foresters Insurance.
RSA chairman Martin Scicluna described Baxendale as “a highly experienced senior banking executive who has served at operating board level for one of the top five banks in Canada and has subsequently built a successful portfolio of non-executive positions in listed and privately held businesses.”
The Global Risk Institute in Financial Services president and chief executive was with Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce from 1992 to 2011.
“We are looking forward, in particular, to benefitting from Sonia’s insights into the Canadian financial services market,” said Scicluna.
