Caroline Fenn (pictured) has been appointed as QBE Canada’s first-ever multinational underwriting manager. The newly created post is aimed at attracting clients in need of multinational insurance placement solutions.

The key hire brings extensive experience in handling complex multinational risks. Previously, she held the role of vice president and underwriting manager for Aon Risk Solutions, where she oversaw specialty lines. More recently, she served as assistant vice president and executive underwriter at Liberty Mutual Canada.

In her new position at QBE Canada, based in Toronto, Fenn will be responsible for placing and facilitating multinational insurance programs across various underwriting teams and product lines.

She will also manage the placement of multinational business across all lines where QBE Canada serves as the local servicing office.

QBE Canada underwriting director Scott Pidduck noted: “This newly created role will help differentiate us in the Canadian market and presents a significant investment to best service clients who have this placement need.

“Caroline brings her expertise but also energy and enthusiasm, which really bode well for our multinational ambitions.”

In August, QBE Canada’s parent firm reported a significant improvement in the insurance group’s  combined operating ratio for the first half of 2024, attributing the result to lower catastrophe costs, more stable reserve development, and supportive premium rate increases.

At the time, group chief executive Andrew Horton stated: “We delivered a series of important initiatives through the period to support greater resilience and consistency. The shape and health of our underwriting portfolio has improved materially over recent years, and as a result, our priorities are becoming more future-focused.”
