Golfer Burns & Wilcox, the North American arm for the H.W. Kaufman Financial Group, announced last Tuesday (December 1) that it has closed a deal with PGA Tour golfer Jimmy Walker, as part of a strategy to increase the firm’s exposure and thus build brand awareness.

The agreement, which is set to become active on January 1, is the insurance broker’s first sports sponsorship. Per the terms of the deal, Walker will carry the Burns & Wilcox logo on his personal website (jimmywalkergolf.com) as well as on the right-hand side of his shirts during events and tournaments.

“A professional golf sponsorship offers heightened visibility to Burns & Wilcox and the other Kaufman companies across media platforms to audiences nationwide and around the world. Jimmy Walker’s status and success will enhance and elevate Kaufman’s global brand,” Burns & Wilcox executive Alan Jay Kaufman told Crain’s Detroit Business.

Walker is considered one of the world’s top golfers, being ranked 25th in the world with around $17.6 million in career tour earnings.

Burns & Wilcox is a trusted provider of a wide range of insurance services to brokers, carriers, and agents through 50 offices in the U.S. and Canada. The company earned $1.6 billion in revenues in 2014 alone.
